Senator Ronald Bato Dela Rosa still hopes that the Marcos-Duterte Tandem, or "Uniteam," will still be fixed.
According to the Senator, the "Uniteam" is still there, as Vice President Sara Duterte was tasked by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to be a "caretaker" before going for his state visit to Vietnam.
"In fact, lumabas papuntang Vietnam si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ay ginawa niyang caretaker si Vice President Sara Duterte," Dela Rosa said during an exclusive interview in Dos Por Dos.
"Ma-repair pa rin yung mga gasgas sa Uniteam. Madali lang iyan. Para sa ikakabuti ng Pilipinas, dapat hindi malusaw yung Uniteam," he added.
It can be recalled earlier when the two families of politicians had several issues with the House of Representatives resolution of the People's Initiative for Charter Change.
Contrary to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s earlier approval for charter change, former President Rodrigo Duterte claimed on Sunday evening during a prayer rally in Davao that Marcos is a "drug addict."
Baste Duterte, during the Maisug Leaders Forum in Davao City, also called for Marcos to resign.
Asked when he had seen Marcos' name on any drug-related list during his term as Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Dela Rosa said he did not come across Marcos' name.
"Wala akong nakita. May mga chismis lang, pero yung sa akin yung sabihin mo na listahan nung ako'y Chief PNP, wala akong nakita," the Senator said.
However, Dela Rosa still defended former President Duterte, saying that he would not say something without any basis.
"Kilala niyo si Pangulong Duterte may sariling alam iyan. Hindi iyan magsasalita kung wala siyang basis. Mapapayo ko lang sa kanya is fight, continue what you are doing para sa kabutihan ng Pilipinas," Dela Rosa remarked.
On Monday, Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri announced Marcos would appeal to the House of Representatives and other initiators to stop the People's Initiative for charter change.
"The President expressed the need to protect the bicameral nature of Congress. He upholds the system of checks and balances within the legislative branch and strengthens the checks and balances between different branches of the government. We know that the President had served as Senator himself. He knows firsthand the value of bicameralism. He knows that the Senate's approval is needed for change," he said.
"The President is set to appeal to the House of Representatives and other People's Initiative initiators to stop their version of the People's Initiative," the Senate president added.
