Typhoon Julian has weakened into a tropical depression, according to PAGASA on Friday, October 4.

As of the weather bureau’s 5 a.m. update, the center of Julian was located 240 km north-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes, and remained almost stationary. The storm has maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center, with gusts reaching up to 55 km/h.

PAGASA has warned of moderate to rough seas, with waves reaching up to 3.5 meters in the seaboards of Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and Ilocos Norte.

Mariners of small seacrafts are advised to avoid these areas, especially if inexperienced or ill-equipped.

Julian is expected to weaken further into a remnant low, either over the landmass of Taiwan or the sea southwest of Taiwan, by the end of the day.
