Typhoon Julian maintained its strength as Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals No. 4 remained hoisted over Batanes and northern portion of Babuyan Islands, the weather bureau reported on Monday.
Based on PAGASA's 11 am weather update, Typhoon Julian is passing near Sabtang Island in Batanes, with maximum sustained winds of 175 km/h, gusts reaching up to 240 km/h, and a central pressure of 940 hPa.
The following areas are placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 3:
- The rest of Babuyan Islands
- northeastern portion of mainland Cagayan
Furthermore, several areas are place under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2:
- rest of mainland Cagayan
- Apayao
- Abra
- Kalinga
- Ilocos Norte
- northern and central portions of Ilocos Sur
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is in effect in the following areas:
- rest of Ilocos Sur
- La Union
- Pangasinan
- Ifugao
- Mountain Province
- Benguet
- Isabela
- Nueva Vizcaya
- Quirino
- Aurora
- northern and eastern portions of Nueva Ecija
- Polillo Islands
Significant to severe impacts from typhoon-force winds are expected in areas under Wind Signal No. 4, while moderate to significant impacts from storm-force winds may occur in localities with Wind Signal No. 3.
Areas with Wind Signal No. 2 could experience minor to moderate impacts from gale-force winds, and minimal to minor impacts from strong winds are possible in regions under Wind Signal No. 1.
"The next tropical cyclone bulletin will be issued at 2:00 PM today," the weather bureau concluded.
