Gener is also expected to intensify the southwest monsoon, or habagat, bringing strong winds to Batanes, Mimaropa, the Bicol Region, Visayas, and Mindanao for the remainder of Tuesday.
"May mga malalakas na pag-ulan tayong inaasahan dahil sa habagat na na-enhance nitong si Gener at pati na rin 'yung bagyo sa labas ng ating PAR," said Torres.
Gener is forecast to have limited intensification within the forecast period, although it may reach tropical storm category by tomorrow morning.
PAGASA reported that Gener is expected to emerge over the West Philippine Sea on Tuesday and is likely to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility either Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.
"After 24 hours makikita nating posibleng nasa labas na ng PAR si bagyong Gener, 500 km kanluran ng Dagupan City, Pangasinan at after 48 hours ay nasa 925 km kanluran ng Northern Luzon so, papalayo na ito sa landmass ng ating bansa," Torres said.
Aside from Gener, PAGASA is also monitoring the typhoon with the international name Pulusan, which is currently outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
