The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday lifted Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 in in some areas of Luzon as Typhoon Betty slightly weakens.
In its 5 AM bulletin, PAGASA said Typhoon Betty was last located 350 kilometers East of Basco, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 150 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 185 km/h, and a central pressure of 955 hPa.
It is moving North northwestward at 10 km/h.
According to the state weather bureau, the following areas remains under TCWS No. 1:
- The rest of mainland Cagayan,
- The northern and eastern portions of Isabela (Santo Tomas, Santa Maria, Quezon, San Mariano, Dinapigue, Delfin Albano, San Pablo, Ilagan City, Benito Soliven, Tumauini, Cabagan, Palanan, Quirino, Divilacan, Gamu, Maconacon, Naguilian, Mallig)
- The eastern portion of Ilocos Norte (Piddig, Bangui, Vintar, Marcos, Pagudpud, Banna, Adams, Carasi, Dingras, Solsona, Dumalneg, Nueva Era)
- Apayao
- The northern portion of Kalinga (City of Tabuk, Balbalan, Pinukpuk, Rizal)
- The northeastern portion of Abra (Tineg, Lacub, Malibcong
Meanwhile, TCWS No. 2 is still raised over the following areas:
- Batanes
- The northeastern portion of Cagayan (Santa Ana, Gonzaga) including the Babuyan Islands
PAGASA said marine gale warning over the seaboards of Northern Luzon, eastern seaboards of Central Luzon, the seaboards of Southern Luzon, and the seaboards of Visayas remain in effect.
“The enhanced Southwest Monsoon and outer periphery of the typhoon circulation will also bring occasional gusts in the next 24 hours over Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Aurora, Quezon, Mindoro Provinces, Marinduque, Romblon, Northern Samar, and the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region and Ilocos Norte that are not under any Wind Signal,” it added.
