Two Vietnamese nationals were arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation-Cybercrime Division (NBI-CCD) in Parañaque City on Friday, August 15, for the illegal practice of medicine.
According to the agency, the suspects, identified as Nguyen The Tang and Mai Quy Loc (alias Do Thi Binh), were operating an unauthorized beauty clinic offering procedures such as chin fillers, alar trim, liposuction, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, facelift, and various medicines. These services were advertised online and conducted without the necessary permits.
NBI-CCD agents conducted a surveillance and entrapment operation, during which the suspects were caught in the act. Authorities also confiscated various medications and paraphernalia used in the illegal clinic.
“The arrest of the Vietnamese nationals is in line with the Bureau’s commitment to protecting the public from unauthorized and potentially dangerous medical practices,” the NBI said in their online press release.
The two suspects will undergo inquest proceedings for violations of R.A. No. 2382, or the Medical Act of 1959; R.A. No. 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012; R.A. No. 9711, or the Food and Drug Administration Act; and R.A. No. 10918, or the Philippine Pharmacy Act.
