Two separate vehicular accidents were reported by authorities in Tondo, Manila, just hours after the New Year’s festivities.
The first incident occurred on Zamora Street, involving a collision between three vehicles, which left one pedestrian seriously injured. The victim, identified as Fernando Luteria, suffered a fractured leg and sustained head and facial injuries caused by shattered glass from the accident.
According to the driver of one of the involved vehicles, a tricycle suddenly counterflowed, causing him to panic and crash into a parked SUV. The impact pushed the SUV into another vehicle, an "Adventure," parked ahead of it.
Despite the front of his vehicle being smashed and crumpled, the driver emerged unharmed.
Meanwhile, on nearby Tayuman Street, another accident occurred when an SUV plowed through two concrete barriers. The driver, identified as Bryan Bautista, 33, was behind the wheel of the damaged SUV. Fortunately, no other vehicles or pedestrians were involved in the incident.
Authorities later confirmed that Bautista, along with his companion during the incident, had been drinking before the accident occurred.
