The Philippines already has 17 athletes who will compete in the upcoming Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC)announced on Tuesday, June 29, that Filipina golfers Yuka Saso and Bianca Pagdanganan have qualified for the sports event that will open on July 28.
The two golfers earned tickets to the Tokyo Games after making it to the Top 60 of the final Olympic golf rankings before their quadrennial sports meet.
Saso, who won the 2021 US Women's Open, ended up at ninth place in the Olympic golf rankings while Pagdanganan secured the 42nd spot.
The two athletes join fellow Filipino golfer Juvic Pagunsan in the Philippine delegation for the Olympics which also include pole-vaulter EJ Obiena, gymnast Carlos Yulo, rower Cris Nievarez, taekwondo jin Kurt Barbosa, skateboarder Margielyn Didal, shooter Jayson Valdez, judoka Kiyomi Watanabe, and sprinter Kristina Knott.
The Olympics roster of the country also includes boxers Eumir Marcial, Irish Magno, Carlo Paalam and Nesthy Petecio.
Weightlifers Hidilyn Diaz and Elreen Ann Ando completes the list of Filipino athletes who have qualified for the Tokyo Olympics, which will run until August 8.
