Twelve areas in Northen Luzon was placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 as Tropical Depression (TD) Dodong accelerates over Cagayan Valley, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services (PAGASA) said on Friday, July 14.
Based on its 8 AM bulletin, the center of TD Dodong was last spotted in the vicinity of Lasam, Cagayan, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of 75 km per hour (kph).
PAGASA said the tropical depression is heading North northwestward at the speed of 25 kph.
The state weather bureau hoisted TCWS No. 1 over the following provinces:
- Cagayan
- Isabela
- Apayao
- Kalinga
- Abra
- Mountain Province
- Ifugao
- Benguet
- Ilocos Norte
- Ilocos Sur
- La Union
- the northern portion of Pangasinan (San Nicolas, San Manuel, Sison, San Fabian, Pozorrubio, Bolinao, Bani, City of Alaminos, Sual, Labrador, Lingayen, Agno, Binmaley, Dagupan City, San Jacinto, Mangaldan, Anda)
The aforementioned areas may experience 39 to 61 kph wind that may cause minimal to minor threats to life and property, PAGASA said.
In a weather press briefing, PAGASA Weather Specialist Benison Estareja said Dodong made landfall in Dinapigue, Isabela at about 3 AM on Friday.
Estareja said that there is a chance that TD Dodong may develop into a tropical storm.
"Base rin sa ating latest track, possibleng lumabas na rin ng Philippine Area of Responsibility bukas ng gabi or sa madaling araw ng linggo," he added.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said that enhance southwest monsoon may bring gusty conditions in MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, CALABARZON, Metro Manila, and other areas of Central Luzon.
