Tropang Giga seized a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven 2023 PBA Governors' Cup finals series after beating Brgy. Ginebra, 104-95, on Wednesday, April 19, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.
Best Import of the Conference Rondae Hollis-Jefferson registered 32 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists while Calvin Oftana scored 20 points for TNT to win Game Five.
After trailing behind by 15 points at most, Tropang Giga rallied in the third quarter, and tied the score, 63-all, following a 12-point scoring run.
A basket by Jayson Castro allowed the TNT to take the lead, 69-66.
Best Player of the Conference Christian Standhardinger finished with 29 points and 13 rebounds while Nards Pinto added 14 points to pace the Gin Kings, which trailed behind for the first time in the series.
Three-time PBA Best Import of the Conference Justin Brownlee managed to chip in 14 points for Ginebra before leaving the game due to food poisoning.
Game Six will happen on Friday, April 21, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
