Former Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV filed a complaint at the Department of Justice (DOJ) against former President Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Christopher 'Bong' Go on Friday, July 5, over their alleged involvement on plunder, graft and corruption, involving the 184 government contracts.
In the 30-page document, Trillanes highlighted that the government projects, amounting to P6.6 billion, went to companies owned by the father and sibling of Sen. Go. Trillanes backed his claim, alluding to the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism’s (PCII) report back in 2018, which stated that the projects were given from 2007 to 2018, despite lacking requirements to undertake such ventures.
Moreover, Trillanes identifies the case to be “ill-gotten wealth” as the money automatically went to the contractors, being Go’s relatives.
The former Senator stated that now is a conducive period to test whether the judiciary is still controlled by the Duterte administration, and mentioned her previous incarceration.
The complaint was submitted to the DOJ, instead of the Office of the Ombudsman. Trillanes believes the department has more access to other agencies that can validate the information filed.
