YG Entertainment has recently revealed the lineup for the sub-unit of K-pop boy group Treasure, called T5, through a series of captivating "concept posters" on their official social media platforms.
The music label's Executive Producer, Yang Hyun-suk, took an unconventional approach to forming Treasure's new sub-unit by asking the members to raise their hands if they believed they were the most attractive in the group.
The "self-proclaimed flower boy quintet" consists of Treasure's co-leader Jihoon, along with Junkyu, Yoon Jae-hyuk, Doyoung, and So Jung-hwan.
Yang Hyun-suk announced the launch of T5 in a video posted on Treasure's official YouTube channel on June 11, where he discussed the group's "future plans."
According to Yang, the current five members of T5 were chosen based on their self-perceived handsomeness, as determined by their raised hands during the selection process.
"I asked Treasure members to raise their hand if they think they are the most handsome among themselves and that's how the team of the current five members [was] formed," said the EP.
He revealed that T5 is scheduled to promote in July, with plans to release a choreography video as a pre-release ahead of a music video.
Based on T5's credit poster for their upcoming release entitled "Move", a dance practice video will be released on June 21, 12 AM (Korean Standard Time), featuring member Junkyu's talent as the lyricist, and composer of the song.
Following the sub-unit debut, Treasure is also planning to release its second full-length album, anticipated to drop in August.
Treasure recently concluded their "Hello" tour, which took them to various Asian cities, including Manila.
During the tour, the group performed two shows at the Mall of Asia Arena on April 14 and 15, marking their second visit to the country after their appearance at the K-pop Masterz concert in July 2022.
The group is well-known for their hits like "Jikjin," "Darari," and "Hello."
Debuted in 2020 with a 12-member group, Treasure experienced some changes when Bang Yedam and Mashiho departed in November 2022.
