

The annual Traslacion of the Jesus Nazarene began at around 4:00 a.m. on Friday as the image of Jesus Nazareno departed from Quirino Grandstand under tight security and extensive road closures. Thousands of barefoot devotees immediately filled major roads, while police, medical teams, and safety marshals were deployed to manage the crowd.
By 5:46 a.m., the image had reached Padre Burgos Street, with crowd monitors estimating around 95,000 devotees already participating. Authorities noted steady early movement, though crowd density continued to build as the procession advanced.
At around 7:00 a.m., a surge of devotees breached police barricades at Ayala Bridge due to increasing crowd pressure. Law enforcement quickly intervened to restore order and ensure the safety of participants.
Movement slowed by 7:30 a.m. as the Andas took longer to exit Taft Avenue toward Ayala Boulevard. MDRRMO reported that more than 139,000 devotees were already part of the Traslacion, prompting heightened safety and crowd-control measures.
By 8:00 a.m., the andas passed the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) along Ayala Boulevard in Ermita, Manila. Crowd estimates at the same time showed attendance had exceeded 210,000 devotees, leading authorities to place emergency response teams on full alert.
As of 10:30 a.m., MDRRMO said the number of devotees reached 223,700 as the procession moved along Ayala Boulevard near Romualdez Street. Officials reported slow but orderly progress amid continuous safety reminders.
At around 11:00 a.m., the image of Jesus Nazarene began crossing Ayala Bridge under controlled conditions. Authorities temporarily restricted access from connecting roads to prevent overcrowding during the crossing.
By 11:35 a.m., the andas had descended from Ayala Bridge, marking a key development in the procession. Crowd flow gradually stabilized after the crossing, while traffic rerouting remained in effect.
As of 1:00 p.m., MDRRMO data showed an estimated 192,000 devotees actively participating, with numbers fluctuating as devotees joined and exited the route. The image remained along Carlos Palanca Street as officials urged the public to rely on official Nazareno 2026 updates.
Several devotees also voiced out their concerns, stating that their prayers include accountability for officials who are tagged in the corruption scandal within the government.
As of 3:00 p.m., the Jesus Nazarene's andas began crossing Arlegui Street from Quezon Blvd. The Andas remained in the said area for almost half an hour.
The total crowd estimate from Ayala Blvd. and Quiapo combined reached 645,200 at 3:00 PM, according to the Quiapo Church Command Post.
As of 4:00 p.m., an estimated 492,000 devotees were surrounding or following the andas of the Jesus Nazarene, according to the NCRPO, as reported by RH Jecelle Ricafort. Authorities clarified that this figure represents the andas count along the procession route and not the total number of participants across Manila.
Meanwhile, the windshield and roof of a media outfit’s crew cab were destroyed after being caught in a dense crowd of devotees at Arlegui Street during the Traslacion, approaching 5:00 p.m.
As of 6:00 p.m., the andas of Jesus Nazarene is at Arlegui Street, corner Carcer Street in Quiapo, Manila, according to the Manila Public Information Office (PIO).
As of 6:30 p.m., Jesus Nazarene's andas remains at Arlegui Street.
At around 7:00 p.m., NCRPO Spokesperson PMAJ. Hazel Asilo said in an exclusive interview that their crowd estimate for Traslacion had reached around 783,200 individuals. Meanwhile, 85,000 devotees are waiting at the Quiapo Church.
Asilo also mentioned that their goal of 15 hours would not be met, as the andas has yet to reach the church.
At 8:15 p.m., the andas of Jesus Nazarene arrived at Fraternal Street.
As of 8:56 p.m., the andas of Jesus Nazarene is approaching Vergara Street.
As of 9:00 p.m., around 150,000 devotees are recorded along Vergara Street.
The Quiapo Church Command Post also recorded a total of 1,079,000 devotees. 822,000 were recorded along Ayala Blvd. and 257,000 along Quiapo.
In an update by the Innovation Integrated GIS and Data Hub of the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, they said that the crowd estimate had reached over 2.4 million individuals from 4:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The Quiapo Church Command Post recorded a total of 1,079,000, 822,000 from Ayala Blvd. and 257,000 from Quiapo.
At 10:10 p.m., the Jesus Nazarene's andas had reached Duque de Alba Street.
In a report, Quiapo Church Command Post recorded an estimated 1,079,000 devotees so far attending this year's Traslacion across the Quirino Grandstand, Ayala Boulevard, and Quiapo Church.
As of 12:27 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, the Jesus Nazarene's andas reached Farnecio Street. The number of hours had already reached 20.
At 12:46 a.m., the andas returned to Arlegui Street.
As of 1:50 a.m., the andas had turned to Nepomuceno Street.
At around 4:40 a.m., Fr. Ramon Jade Licuanan announced that the andas of Jesus Nazarene would temporarily stay at the San Sebastian Church, postponing the Traslacion.
However, as of 5:00 a.m., it was announced that the Traslacion will push through. The andas has arrived at Bilibid Viejo Street.
