The traditional Traslacion of the Black Nazarene held every January has been suspended in 2022 anew dangers of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fr. Douglas Badong, the parochial vicar of the Minor Basilica of Black Nazarene, also known as Quiapo Church, said the Feast of the Black Nazarene will still be celebrated similarly to what was done in 2021.
This is the second time that the traditional event was cancelled following earlier this year due to the pandemic.
Fr. Badong said there will be no procession from Quirino Grandstand as the venue is still being used as a field hospital for COVID-19 patients.
