The suspect in the shooting a traffic enforcer right after an argument in Tanza, Cavite, on Sunday surrendered on Tuesday, along with his companion.
According to Cavite police director Col. Christopher Olazo, suspects Joseph Llagas, who lives in Barangay Biga and is allegedly an aide of a politician, and Aries Carlos surrendered before Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla.
The police reported that Llagas and Carlos initially informed Tanza Vice Mayor Archangelo Matro of their decision to surrender when a reward was offered for their capture.
Tanza's municipal government had previously offered a P100,000 reward for information leading to the assailant's capture.
Tanza police commander Maj. Dennis Villanueva said Llagas was charged with murder in Imus City.
He explained that witnesses positively identified Llagas as the driver who shot William Quiambao, a traffic enforcer in Tanza, after he apprehended the suspect who was under the influence of alcohol in front of SM Center Tanza.
The witnesses shared that Llagas, who was reportedly inebriated, attempted to run over Quiambao.
Llagas allegedly pulled Carlos' revolver from his waistband and shot the traffic enforcer.
Meanwhile, the suspects' motorcycle was discovered abandoned in Tanza's Barangay Biga.
