Former Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Nicolas Torre III was sworn in as the new Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) general manager on Friday, December 26.

Executive Secretary Ralph Recto administered the oath of office at the Malacañang.

The Palace confirmed Torre’s reassignment last week, December 19, months after he was relieved of his post as PNP chief amid a dispute with the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM).

Prior to his appointment, Torre held several key positions in the PNP, including serving as chief of the Davao Region Police, the Western Samar Provincial Police Office, and police stations in Batangas City and Mabalacat, Pampanga.
