Another year under the leadership of Head Coach Topex Robinson, the De La Salle University’s Men’s Basketball is taking a unique approach to the ongoing UAAP season.

After reclaiming the top spot last year in UAAP Season 86 and ending a seven-year championship drought, the Green Archers are shifting their mindset from defending their title to actively attacking the crown once again.

Robinson made it clear that the past victory, while significant, is now history.

“We already let go of Season 86 championship; it's history now. Nobody could take it away from us. But, right now, everybody has a chance. We're not defending the crown; we're attacking the crown, just like all the other seven teams,” Robinson explained to DZRHTV.

His words reflect a philosophy of continuous improvement and relentless pursuit of excellence.

Unlike the conventional approach of defending champions, who often feel the weight of preserving their title, Robinson’s team sees themselves as equals among all contenders.

“So, sa amin, we are not protecting anything. We’re just part of that 8 schools that want to be crowned as champions after this season ends. We’re not entitled because we are the defending champions, and we're not falling into the trap na nandon pa rin kami sa cloud 9 because that's gonna be our downfall,” he emphasized.

This grounded approach ensures that the Green Archers remain focused and motivated. Robinson stressed the importance of maintaining high standards and avoiding complacency.

“So, we kinda lowered down and grounded ourselves that if we don't do our best as a team, any team could beat us,” he warned, highlighting the competitive nature of the UAAP league.

Green Archers community

Robinson’s gratitude towards the La Salle community is evident. He acknowledged the immense support from fans and stakeholders, and promised to give their best in every game.

“We will always be at our best, we are so grateful for the support from the whole community of La Salle and we wanna give back by always playing our best. It’s either we win a championship or we're gonna die trying,” he declared.

The Green Archers is currently at the top of the standing, 2-0, after beating National University and Adamson University.
