The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has reminded motorists entering expressways during and after the observance of All Souls' Day and All Saints' Day about the importance of having Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags.
In an interview during Dos Por Dos on Friday, TRB Spokesperson Julius Corpuz emphasized that there is a designated lane for cash payment transactions for those who do not have an RFID yet.
Among the benefits of having an RFID is the contactless payment system, which enables quick and convenient transactions at retail locations and toll plazas.
"Kung wala pa silang RFID, tumungo muna sila dito sa designated lane na 'to kung saan sila'y pwedeng magbayad muna ng cash," said Corpuz.
Corpuz also reminded motorists not to forget to load their RFIDs before traveling, ensuring they have enough balance for their destinations. He encouraged the use of mobile applications for loading their RFID accounts for convenience.
In case the RFID was loaded but the balance did not reflect in the system, motorists should secure a receipt of the loading transaction.
"Yung sasapat lamang upang sila'y makapagbayad sa kanilang exit, okay na po 'yun; hindi na kailangang pasobrahin pa ang kanilang pagloload," Corpuz noted.
He assured that toll operators and concessionaires are addressing "flaws" in the system, especially concerning unwanted incidents. Toll assistance personnel are ready to assist motorists.
Meanwhile, the TRB hopes for smooth traffic flow in the expressways and toll plazas during this year's Undas.
"Ang pagnanais naman natin ay mapaayos at mapabilis ang transaksyon nila at byahe nila sa ating mga toll plaza na hindi naman natin pineperwisyo 'yung mga karaniwan, karamihan ng ating mga motoristang may RFID na sumusunod sa patakaran," Corpuz added.
