An injury put an end to the campaign of Filipino hurdler John Cabang Tolentino in the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.
In his Instagram account, Tolentino apologized on Tuesday, August 7, after an injury forced him to withdraw from the repechage round of the men's 110 meters hurdles event.
Tolentino did not disclose what type of injury he sustained but reports state that the Olympian is experiencing hip pain.
Tolentino dropped to the repechage round after he finished at sixth place, with a time of 13.66.659-seconds, during his preliminary heat last Sunday, August 4.
If Cabang secured the top two spots in his repechage heat, the 22-year old Filipino hurdler would have advanced to the semifinals, and remained in contention for a medal.
The withdrawal of Tolentino also concluded the campaign of the Philippine national athletics team in the Paris Games.
