Philippine TV’s longest-running noontime show, ‘Eat Bulaga!’ officially announced its departure from its TV production firm, Television and Production Exponent (TAPE) Inc., on Wednesday, May 31.

Its main hosts, Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon, popularly known as the "TVJ" trio, stated that the management did not allow them to have a live show today.

In vernacular, Vic said that starting today, May 31, they are saying good-bye to TAPE Incorporated, saying that they are honored to deliver happiness from Batanes to Jolo and become part of their viewers' lives.

He thanked all their audiences and mentioned that wherever destiny takes them, they will continue to deliver one thousand and one laughs.

Also, TVJ expressed their deepest gratitude to their advertisers, loyal fans, which they call "Dabarkads," and the broadcast network that aired their program for the last 44 years.

They stated that it was the hardest decision they have made since the program’s launch in 1979, and they will no longer say all the things they have in their hearts and want to work peacefully and with respect for everyone.

Meanwhile, with a sad heart, the GMA networks released a statement upon hearing the news of the program’s departure.

"We are saddened by today's unexpected turn of events with regard to Eat Bulaga. GMA has been the home of Eat Bulaga for many years, and we still have a block time agreement with TAPE until the end of 2024 for the noontime slot. Together with all the Filipino fans, we pray for a smooth and swift resolution of their issues.

"Maraming salamat sa patuloy na suporta, mga Kapuso," it stated.
