Sinigang na baboy, described as Filipino savory and sour soup made from pork cuts simmered in tamarind fruit along with a variety of ingredients like tomates, onions, garlic, among others, acquired a 4.5 score and ranked 11th out of 50 best rated meat soups worldwide.
“Nowadays, sinigang mix is available in supermarkets, but enjoying the dish made from scratch represents the full experience,” Taste Atlas said, recommending Max’s Restaurant with good sinigang na baboy.
Bulalo, a local dish hailing from the popular tourist spot Tagaytay, scored 4.4 and ranked 17th in the list. It is described as made from broth of beef shanks and marrow bones that results in a robust flavor.
“It can be found in most upscale restaurants in the Philippines, due to the fact that beef shank and bone marrow are not among the cheapest cuts of meat in the country,” Taste Atlas said, listing restaurants (mostly in Tagaytay) where bulalo is served best.
Tinolang Manok scored 4.2 and ranked 30th in the list, considered as a staple in every Filipino household. The dish is described as chicken cuts boiled in flavorful broth together with green papaya and chili pepper.
According to Taste Atlas, the “50 Best Rated Meat Soups in the World” was rated until Nov. 15 and noted that the list should not be the threshold for final global conclusion about food as its purpose leaned toward promoting local food and around curiosity among the public for dishes they were yet to try.
