The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) has assured the public that the redevelopment plan for Burnham Park in Baguio City will be completed on schedule, following a recent inspection ahead of the Panagbenga Festival 2026 Street Dance Competition.
TIEZA Chief Operating Officer Mark Lapid and Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong conducted a site visit on Thursday to assess progress. Lapid said the project, funded by TIEZA in coordination with the Baguio City government, is expected to be completed by May this year.
The Burnham Lake rehabilitation, which began in November 2025, carries an initial budget of over ₱98 million and forms part of a broader multi-phase redevelopment program. Originally backed by a ₱400 million allocation, the project was restructured into Phases 1, 2, and 3 after portions of the budget were realigned during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Officials are now awaiting the final design from the city government to proceed with improvements to the park’s children’s playground, rose garden, and skating rink. Mayor Magalong expressed gratitude to TIEZA for prioritizing the redevelopment of Burnham Park, considered the most visited tourist destination in Baguio City.
The park is named after American architect and urban planner Daniel Burnham, who crafted Baguio’s original master plan during the early 20th century.
