Suspended Negros Oriental 3rd District Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr. claimed that the Philippine National Police are doing intelligence work on him in Timor Leste.

Teves said that he also learned that a certain Lt. Col. Cecil Viloria and four others went to Timor Leste through a video uploaded on his Facebook page, in which he stated he wanted to know their intention of visiting the said country.

In the uploaded video, he said that he was the main target of the intel work since he heard that the cops intended to do intel work against him.

Teves claims that if a certain police officer arrived in Timor-Leste on a private trip, he would have no reservations.

However, if it was made in an official capacity, the suspended congressman believes Filipinos should be aware of it.

It should be noted that Teves was accused of being the architect behind the assassination of former Negros governor Roel Degamo and attempted to seek asylum in Timor Leste, although the latter denied involvement in the ambush but was concerned for his and his family's safety.

Before traveling to the United States for medical treatment, Teves requested travel authorization from the House of Representatives from February 28 to March 9, which was granted.

Teves, on the other hand, abstained from returning to the Philippines after Degamo was assassinated by three armed men outside his home in Pamplona town on March 14, ensuring the safety of his family.

Government officials, notably House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, have begged him to return and face the charges made against him, but Teves has stated that he will only return if the government guarantees his safety.

Due to his refusal to come home, the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges requested a 60-day suspension for him, which the House members accepted.

Teves was suspended for 60 days again on May 31, after his suspension ended on May 22.

He was also removed from the House committees on which he serves.
