The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) has filed charges of illegal possession of firearms and explosives against Negros Oriental 3rd District Rep. Arnolfo 'Arnie' Teves and his two sons, PNP spokesperson Jean Fajardo confirmed on Wednesday.
"Naisampa na po kaninang alas tres sa Department of Justice 'yung kaso for violation of Republic Act 10591 or 'yung illegal possession of firearms, at 'yung illegal possesion of explosives po," she said during a press briefing.
Last Friday, March, 10, the PNP-CIDG conducted a simultaneous raid of the five houses owned by Teves, and they seized several guns and bullets.
During the said raid, police authorities also arrested the secretary and five other personnel of Teves, and they were charged with violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Separate complaints were charged against two personnel for infringement of RA 9516 or the Illegal possession of Explosives.
But Fajardo clarified the illegal possession of firearms charges against Teves is in connection to the killings perpetuated in Negros Oriental back in 2019.
She said Teves and his sons Kurth Matthew and Axel would be given a chance to answer the complaints, and they will undergo a preliminary investigation.
Apart from this charges, the Negros Congressman is facing three counts of murder in connection to the killings in Negros Oriental back in 2019.
Teves has also been tagged as the alleged mastermind who ordered the murder of former Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo.
