The Philippine Amusement & Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) stands by its new agency logo, PAGCOR chief Alejandro Tengco said on Monday, July 17.
In a media interview, Tengco said the majority of its employees are in favor of the new emblem.
“I will be honest with you. I am not affected at all,” said Tengco.
When asked if he was disappointed by the reactions of some netizens, he said “We made a good decision and yung decision na iyon ay paninidigan namin. That is a management prerogative."
The new PAGCOR logo earlier drew criticism for its P3-million price tag and for its design that resembles a flame with shades of blue and red, which according to netizens, looked like the logo of an oil company
Tengco defended that the amount was used to create a new logo and produce other materials.
“Hindi lamang P3 million yung logo lang. There are so many other deliverables granted from the designer tulad (ng) like manuals,” Tengco explained.
“Mali yung pag-iisip na yung 3 milyon para sa logo lang. (Pero) merong mga aral na ginawa at maraming gamit din ang kailangan pang asikasuhin yung designer,” he said.
Around 45 PAGCOR properties will display and make use of the logo.
Pagcor unveiled its new logo during the agency's 40th-anniversary celebration on July 11.
The negative responses to the new logo spurred requests for an investigation in the House of Representatives.
