Mayor Galicano Truita has issued an order directing the temporary ban of entry and exit of swine or hogs in the Municipality of Dauin in Negros Oriental following the confirmation of swine deaths in several districts due to the African Swine Fever (ASF) virus.

Based on Executive Order (EO) 2023-19.1 released on Saturday, the ban also includes fresh and frozen pork products.

Truita also suspended the swine-related activities such as slaughtering in the entire municipality.

He ordered the immediate culling of pigs within a 500-meter radius in Purok 1 and Purok 2 of Barangay Maayong Tubig to prevent spread of ASF virus and similar incidents.

Furthermore, the mayor directed the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist, Dauin Police Station, Municipal Health Office, Barangay Captains to coordinate with the Provincial Veterinary Office to immediately implement the order.

According to the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) Central Office, the latest laboratory tests it conducted in Puroks 1 and 2 of Brgy. Maayong Tubig have showed that the deaths of hogs "were caused by the ASF virus."
