A 15-year-old boy was fatally run over by a dump truck in the Pasig City Hall construction site, according to a report on Thursday, May 22.
In the Pasig City Police report, the truck that crushed the victim was being driven by his own father, alias “Richard,” 41, at around 1:30 p.m. in the city hall along Caruncho Ave., Barangay San Nicolas.
Local rescue personnel soon arrived at the scene; however, the boy was declared dead at past 2 p.m. Police promptly launched an investigation and apprehended the suspect following the incident.
The local government will be extending aid to the victim’s family. It also said it will be coordinating with the Pasig City Hall Construction Consortium (PCHCC) to ensure it carries out a mandatory review of its safety protocols.
“A mandatory review of the existing safety measures will be required from the PCHCC to ensure that an incident like this will not happen again,” the Pasig local government unit (LGU) said in a statement.
“Rest assured that this is taken seriously and that safety within the construction site remains of utmost priority,” it added.
The contract for the construction of the new city hall was signed on January 13 this year.
