The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) confirmed on Wednesday, February 24, that Tropical Depression Auring left at least one dead in CARAGA region.
NDRRMC deputy spokesperson Mark Timbal said that a child drowned in CARAGA region due to floods caused by TD Auring.
Aside from the single casualty, the NDRRMC also received reports that two individuals suffered injuries, and four persons went missing during the onslaught of TD Auring.
"Dalawa din naman kababayan natin ang na-injure. Yung isa mukhang tinamaan ng yero during the storm. Tapos, yung isa naman tinamaan ng kidlat," Timbal said during DZRH's Coffee Break.
"Yung tatlo diyan sa nawala, nakasakay sa isang bangka na tumaob sa ilog habang bumabagyo. Mukhang inanod sila ng agos. So far, they are still being, hinahanap pa rin ng ating mga kasamahan from local government," he added.
NDRRMC said that around 49,947 families, or around 181,990 individuals, had to evacuate due to the onslaught of TD Auring in Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao, and CARAGA regions.
The disaster-response agency also reported that TD Auring damaged 679 houses across Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao, and CARAGA regions.
"226 of that count, from that count, is totally damaged. Mukhang mga light structures ito," Timbal said.
The damages in agriculture, meanwhile, rose to more than Php 21.4 millions, and the damages to infrastructure climbed up to Php 2.8 million in CARAGA.
NDRRMC said that the Department of Social Welfare and Development, and the local government units have provided more than Php 3.2 million worth of assistance to affected families in Northern Mindanao, and CARAGA.
