After a taxi driver drove off with his passenger’s money, he and its operator have been served a show cause order by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to account for the incident.
In her complaint-affidavit, the victim stated she had asked to be brought to a hospital in Manila. Although the taxi meter indicated a fare of just over ₱100, the driver was demanding ₱250. To avoid an argument, the passenger relented and handed him a ₱1,000 bill, which the driver pretended to set aside before speeding away with the money, reported RH 5 Val Gonzales.
While the driver is yet to be identified, LTFRB’s verification record shows that Rolando Bagorio from Payatas, Quezon City is the operator of the El Cyd taxi, plate number ABL 2026.
The LTFRB has ordered the taxi’s driver and operator to explain why the unit should not be suspended or why its franchise should not be cancelled or revoked. A hearing has been scheduled by the regulatory agency on May 16, 8 a.m.
