Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo is set to appear before the Senate this Monday after the Tarlac court granted her permission to attend the hearing of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality.

Before this Court is a letter from Senator Risa Hontiveros requesting for the appearance of accused Alice Leal Guo alias “Guo Hua Ping” before the Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality on Monday, September 09, 2024 at 10:00 in the morning. Given the critical importance of the on-going inquiry in aid of legislation, the Court grants the Senator’s request,” the Court order released on Friday read.

The accused Alice Guo alias “Guo Hua Ping” is allowed to attend the scheduled public hearing mentioned above provided that strict security protocol be observed,” the Court order added.

The court's order was issued to support the Senate's ongoing investigation into illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) in the country.

The action was triggered by Senator Risa Hontiveros's request to the Capas, Tarlac Regional Trial Court (RTC), Branch 109, where she highlighted that the Committee had sent multiple invitations to Guo, urging her to attend previous Senate hearings.

The Capas, Tarlac RTC had the former mayor arrested for violations under the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

Following the directive of Presiding Judge Sarah Delos Santos, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has been instructed to move Guo from the PNP Custodial Facility at Camp Crame to the Senate for the scheduled public hearing.

"The PNP will follow the court order with strict observance of security protocol as ordered by the court," PNP Spokesperson PCol. Jean Fajardo said.
