Nica del Rosario, the songwriter behind the hit song “Tala,” recently shared the personal inspiration behind the track and its meaningful connection to the queer community.

The song, famously performed by Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo, has once again gained traction online—this time resonating strongly with queer and LGBTQIA+ listeners. Many fans have pointed out how the song’s themes of longing, devotion, and emotional vulnerability mirror the experiences often found in queer relationships.

Netizens, in particular, have connected deeply with the song’s heartfelt lyrics, saying they reflect the intense yearning and love felt when caring deeply for someone, especially within the queer community.

On X, Del Rosario openly expressed her personal attachment to the song, writing, “Az a queer woman with a phd in yearningism, that tala bridge remains to be my most favorite line I’ve ever written.”

She further shared her joy in seeing the song embraced by the audience it was meant for, adding, “Happy to see na umabot na siya sa target audience after 10 years.”

The songwriter also revealed that she originally dedicated “Tala” to her now-wife early in their relationship. According to Del Rosario, she wrote the song just a month after they started dating, at a time when her partner was not yet ready to commit—while she herself was already deeply in love.

This revelation was warmly received by fans, who viewed it as a powerful moment of representation for queer relationships. Many celebrated Del Rosario’s openness, noting how her story adds deeper meaning to the song’s enduring impact and emotional resonance.
