The Taguig Stallions have made history by becoming the inaugural champions of the first-ever Pro Billiards League in the Philippines, the Sharks Billiards Association (SBA).
They defeated the Manila MSW Mavericks in a tightly contested championship series, winning 3-2.
Bryant “Bryant Urdaneta” Saguiped and Marj Ejay “Emong” Cunanan delivered standout performances to help the Stallions secure the Chino Trinidad Championship Trophy.
Saguiped led the team's comeback in Game 2, winning eight consecutive racks after an opening game loss. Cunanan played a crucial role in Game 4, forcing a decisive Game 5.
Team captain Rodrigo “Edgie” Geronimo was named Player of the Week for his exceptional performance, including three golden breaks, six break-and-runs, a 61% break success rate, a 59% win rating, and a 93% overall rating.
Geronimo dominated Jonas “Silent Killer” Magpantay in the deciding 1 versus 1 match, securing the title for the Stallions.
During the post-game interview, he expressed his joy after the victory, saying, "Napakasarap sa pakiramdam, salamat sa mga supporters namin, mga kaibigan at kapamilya... Bago kami magsimula, kinausap kami ng team owner namin, minotivate kami na i-enjoy lang at 'wag ma-pressure dahil umpisa pa lang may napatunayan kami."
Head coach Jaynard Orque praised Geronimo’s consistency, stating, "'Yung pinaka-edge namin ay 'yung magandang break ni Edgie, 'yun 'yung nagdala, napaka-consistent niya sa break."
Orque also congratulated the Mavericks: "Unang una, congratulations sa MSW Mavericks dahil nag-second place sila. Kahit apat lang ang team, napakahirap pong makapasok sa finals at pinahirapan din kami ng MSW."
Before reaching the finals, the Taguig Stallions remained undefeated, consistently securing the top spot in the competition.
