Nancy Gamo, the accountant of suspended Bamban Mayor Alice Guo, was released from Senate detention on Monday following a motion made by Senator Robin Padilla.
During a hearing of the Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, Padilla praised Gamo for her cooperation throughout the investigation.
“Iminumungkahi ko sana mapalaya natin si Miss Nancy. Nancy Gamo. Napaka-cooperative sa atin, hingi ko sana mapalaya siya sa custody ng Senado. I so move,” Padilla stated.
Senator Risa Hontiveros as the head of the panel, expressed her gratitude towards Gamo for her assistance and confirmed her release.
“Malaya na po kayo sa jurisdiction ng komite,” Hontiveros told Gamo, signaling the end of her detention by the Senate.
Gamo had been in Senate custody since mid-July, following an arrest warrant issued by the upper chamber.
During the hearing, she admitted to her role in assisting Guo with the incorporation of companies owned by Guo and her family.
“Mayor Alice Guo was a client of mine. Client on a per transaction basis — per project. I happened to register the corporations owned by her family way back in 2012. And then there are also other corporations, including the two Pogo companies," said Gamo.
“Freelance accountant po ako ni Ms. Alice, walang employment, walang retainer engagement,” she added.
