A suspect in the shooting incident that claimed the lives of two individuals in Brgy. Labas, Santa Rosa City, Laguna, was killed after allegedly engaging with police officers in a firefight on Sunday morning, August 31, 2025.
Laguna Police Acting Provincial Director PCOL Jonar R. Yupio identified the suspect as alias Nestor, a resident of Santa Rosa City.
Investigators revealed that the suspect had a long-standing grudge against one of the victims.
According to the report of the Santa Rosa City Police Station led by PLTCOL Benson D. Pimentel, the incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. Initial investigation showed that one of the victims, alias Victor, was standing outside when the suspect suddenly arrived carrying a .38 caliber revolver and opened fire.
Another victim, identified as alias Dexter, attempted to intervene but was shot in the head by the suspect, resulting in his death. The suspect then chased Victor, who tried to escape, but was caught and shot twice. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Responding officers from Santa Rosa Police spotted the suspect still armed with the revolver. Police said the suspect fired at them, prompting them to return fire. The suspect was hit in the body and rushed to the Santa Rosa Community Hospital, where he was likewise declared dead on arrival.
