Super Typhoon Henry only left minimal damage - NDRRMC
by Kristan Carag05 September 2022

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said that Super Typhoon Henry only caused 'minimal damage' to Batanes and Cagayan Valley Region.

"It seems very minimal yung effect sa kanila," said Asec. Bernardo Alejandro IV, spokesperson of the NDRRMC, on Sunday, September 4, during an interview with DZRH.

"Dahil napakalayo naman talaga kung tutuusin si Henry kaya hangin lang na may dalang ulan dito sa Batanes area," Alejandro explained.

As per the reports received by the NDRRMC, Alejandro said that only five families evacuated in Basco, Batanes due to the effect of Super Typhoon Henry, which weakened into a typhoon before leaving the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Sunday, September 4.

"Suspension lang of classes and yung suspension ng sea travel, iyon lang ang major effect sa kanila," the NDRRMC official said.

"Walang preemptive na nangyari, walang evacuation, very minimal ang effect," he stressed.

Meanwhile, Alejandro also said that the NDRRMC still needs to verify reports that an adult drowned in Cura River, Ilocos Norte due to the effects of Super Typhoon Henry.

Reports earlier stated that a farmer died in Brgy. Mongol, Cordillera Administrative Region due to a landslide caused by Super Typhoon Henry but NDRRMC later tagged the death as due to localized thunderstorms
