Strong Group Athletics fell short of winning the title in the Dubai International Basketball Championship.
A buzzer-beater by Ismail Abdelmoneim ended the winning streak of Strong Group, and allowed Al-Riyadi to win, the championship, 77-74, on Sunday, January 28.
Andre Robinson scored 24 points and NBA champion Dwight Howard finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds for Strong Group which bowed out of the competition with seven wins and one loss.
Al-Riyadi went up by 19 points at most but Strong Group managed to catch up in the fourth quarter, and take the lead, 65-61, following back-to-back three pointers by Jordan Heading and Robinson
A three-point basket by Amir Saoud allowed Al Riyadi to recover the lead, 74-71.
Heading once more scored from downtown for Strong Group to tie the game, 83-all. before Abdelmoneim delivered the game-winning three-point basket.
Gabriel Harries tallied 23 points Wael Arakji added 16 points for the Al-Riyadi to complete an eight-game sweep of the tournament.
