A family in Sto. Niño, Parañaque suddenly woke up in the middle of their deep sleep after their room was hit by a stray bullet on Monday, December 23.
In an exclusive interview during Dos Por Dos on Thursday, the father of the house, Engr. Ace Gutierrez, said the bullet hit at 2:35 a.m. Inside the room where the stray bullet struck were his wife, their 10-year-old child, and their housemaid.
There was only about a handspan and a half between the spot where their housemaid was lying, who was the first to be alarmed when the incident occurred.
Due to the shocking event, the family calmed down first before reporting the incident to the authorities at around 4 a.m.
The Parañaque police immediately visited the location where the stray bullet had hit. An initial investigation revealed that the bullet was allegedly a .45 caliber.
National Capital Region Police Office Chief PBGen. Anthony Aberin said that the bullet was sent to the crime laboratory to examine its origin.
"Baka posible pong may magmatch na record sa atin kung ito ay galing sa baril ng isang legitimate gun holder or any law enforcement officer or any kawani ng law enforcement agency na legal na nakahawak ng baril," Aberin said during the Dos Por Dos interview.
However, Aberin said that if the gun is unregistered, they will coordinate with the barangay to identify the person who fired the weapon.
