President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. has removed the implementation of state of national emergency in Mindanao, citing that the government's intervention has improve and restore the peace and order in the region.
The lifiting of the status was stipulated under Proclamation No. 298 dated July 25 and released on Thursday.
"Through successful focused military and law enforcement operations and programs that promote sustainable and inclusive peace, the government has significant gains in improving and restoring peace and order in the region," the order reads.
In September 2016, former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte issued Proclamation No. 55 declaring state of national emergency in Mindanao due to the "lawless violence perpetrated by private armies and local warlords, bandits, criminal syndicates, terrorist groups, and religious extremists across the island group".
According to the President, the lifting of the national emergency status in the region will "boost economic activity and hasten the recovery of the local economy".
The order was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin for Marcos.
