The Commission on Election (Comelec) has released the calendar of activities for the special election to elect the Representative of the 3rd Legislative District in Negros Oriental.
Based on the calendar of activities posted on Saturday, Nov. 4, the filing of candidacy will start on Monday, Nov. 6, and end on Nov. 8, 2023.
The election period and the suspension of permits to carry firearms outside of residence will run from Nov. 9 until Dec. 24.
The poll body set the campaign period of candidates from Nov. 9 until Dec. 7.
No candidates shall campaign and no liquors shall be sold or bought at all stores, two days before the election or from Dec. 8 to 9.
The election day is on Dec. 9, and residents have to cast their votes at the prescribed time, from 7 AM until 3 PM.
All winning or losing candidates are instructed to file their Statements of Contributions and Expenditures or SOCE un tilJan. 9, 2024.
Negros Oriental’s 3rd District was previously represented by Arnolfo ‘Arnie’ Teves Jr., who is facing murder charges for the death of former Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo and nine other civilians.
In August this year, he was expelled for “disorderly behavior and for violation of the Code of Conduct of the House of Representatives".
