Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto on Thursday responded to the statement released by Vice Mayor Iyo Caruncho-Bernardo, who claimed that the local chief executive is ruining the Caruncho reputation.
"Kaya ako magsasalita ngayon ay para proteksyunan ang pangalang Caruncho na pilit mong dinudumihan," said Bernardo in a video statement on January 18.
(I am speaking now to protect the Caruncho family that you have been trying to ruin.)
Sotto later responded on Thursday, where he asked in what part of his previous remarks did he mention the Caruncho family.
"May sinabi ba ako tungkol sa pamilya niya?" the Pasig mayor responded.
(Did I say something about his family?)
The exchange is part of a growing row between the two highest local officials in Pasig city.
It started when Bernardo, who is also running for Pasig mayor, said that the quality of life in Pasig did not improve under Sotto's administration.
Sotto answered back in a flag ceremony, where he told Bernardo to put his work first before criticizing him.
The video statement from Berdnardo later emerged as a response to that, where he also accused Vico of making a movie out of Pasig, adding that the mayor is using the internet to cover up for his lapses in service.
