Iloilo City Police confirmed that some illegal drug personalities and users won in the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in the area.

"Prior ng Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan, meron na kaming report. Ito ay validated," said PCol. Joeresty Coronica, chief of the Iloilo City Police, on Wednesday, November 8, during an interview with Radyo Natin.

Coronica explained that the police could not act on the intelligence reports, and disqualify the candidates due to lack of testimonies to back the allegations.

"Yung record natin is based on intelligence. Alam naman natin na yung intelligence information will not hold water kasi hindi naman ito ma-substantiate ng affidavit," Coronica said.
