House Deputy Minority Leader and ACT Teachers Partylist Rep. France Castro called for an investigation into a shooting incident she allegedly witnessed in Taguig last night, emphasizing the need for a police report.
In her personal privilege speech during the House Quad-Committee hearing on December 12, Castro admitted she feared she might have been the target of the shooting, possibly aimed at intimidating her over her allegations against the previous Duterte administration.
According to Castro, the shooting incident occurred around 11 p.m. in BGC, Taguig. She emphasized that the police station responsible for the area should submit a police report on the incident.
The lawmaker recalled noticing a police car ahead of them on the road. A motorcycle then passed by, and shortly after, two officers emerged from the mobile car and chased the motorcycle.
She added that the motorcycle passed in front of them, and then went behind their vehicle. They were shocked when one of the police officers fired at the motorcyclist.
The incident reportedly took place in the midst of traffic. The lawmaker questioned the actions of the officers, expressing that such an event was unacceptable, particularly with civilians nearby.
Castro further recalled a similar incident that happened six years ago in Talaingod, where her vehicle was also shot at by two individuals on a motorcycle.
She then expressed her concern, fearing that the incident might be a personal threat in retaliation for her outspoken criticism of the Duterte administration.
