The solo parent cards of citizens residing in EMBO barangays in Taguig are now invalid, according to the Makati local government (LGU) on Monday, January 22.
"Ipinapaalam ng Makati Social Welfare Department na wala nang bisa ang inisyung Solo Parent Card para sa mga taga-EMBO barangays," Makati LGU said in an advisory.
It said affected EMBO residents could still apply for the solo parent card in the Taguig City Social Welfare and Development Office.
The solo parent card entitles single parents who are left with the parenthood's responsibility to avail different kinds of benefits and aid.
Earlier this month, the yellow and blue cards of EMBO citizens reached expiration as per the Makati LGU's earlier announcement.
It also declared that 10 Embo barangay would be forced to shut down as their license to operate reached the expiration period.
This decision was criticized heavily by the Taguig LGU, saying that Makati suddenly backed out in the transition of health services and transfer of facilities as agreed during a meeting with the health departemnt officials.
