A big transformation is about to occur as SM Megamall is set to be redeveloped this July.

Taking inspiration from the Philippines as a "country of thousand islands", the mall's new aesthetic takes a refreshing approach. Integrating nature from its interior to exterior, the new "Crystal Islands" aesthetic blends the space into a bigger and brighter atmosphere.

Famous architectural firm, Benoy, behind Icon Siam in Thailand and the Jewel Changi in Singapore, would carry out the redesign adding tall glass ceilings, greenery, more open spaces, and additional parking slots for shoppers. In level 5, an air-conditioned garden is equipped with a high-tech roofing system to bring the feeling of a calming ambience—the perfect spot for shoppers to relax and enjoy their coffee.

The upgrade isn't just for the new look, because they will also add 20,000 square meters of leasable space for retail stores and restaurants. So expect bigger spaces, wider hallways, and higher ceilings. Movie-goers would also love the new cinematic experience as there would be 7 cinemas, 2 director’s club theaters, and large-format cinema made for special events and exclusive screenings.
