All fiesta activities in honor of Santo Niño de Cebu will resume in January 2023 after two years of hiatus due to the pandemic, the Agustin friars of the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu announced on Tuesday, Nov. 15.

“All religious activities– physical masses, processions, fluvial parade, reenactment, and traslacions– will resume,” the Agustin friars said in a statement posted on Facebook.

With this year’s theme “Our Source of Peace in the Walk of Faith”, the 458th Fiesta Señor celebrations will start on Jan. 5 up until 15 and 20, 2023.

According to the Basilica's scheule of activities, the image of Santo Niño along with Our Lady of Guadalupe will be marched to Mandaue City on the morning of Jan. 13.

The next day, the two images will be part of a fluvial procession, and will be brought for the annual solemn foot procession in the afternoon.

"As we resume all our religious activities this forthcoming Fiesta Senor, we appeal to all devotees, pilgrims, and guests to adhere to protocols which are being implemented for a safe, orderly, and solemn conduct of our religious celebration. Let us be mindful, quoting from the solemn blessing of the Sto. Nino Mass that a good Christian makes a better citizen,” the Agustin friars reminded.
