

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) will issue a show cause order compelling the owner of 714 cartons of seafood items seized from a cold storage facility in Navotas on Friday night to submit documents proving they were not smuggled into the nation.
Cashiers Alma Aden and Cheryl Elizalde, as well as delivery guy Tito Ybanez Jr., were arrested for allegedly selling contraband pompano at ICY Point Cold Storage and Processing Corp.
According to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), on Wednesday, the BFAR will issue a show-cause order for the owner to present legal documents pertaining to the discovered products.
The three are charged with agricultural smuggling and breaching Republic Act 7394, the Philippine Consumer Act.
Personnel from the Department of Agriculture and CIDG operatives recovered 714 boxes of varied seafood products worth P1.42 million from the facility.
