The Southern Police District (SPD) reported on Thursday that the police officers found 27 kilos of suspected shabu, which is worth P183.6 million, in an abandoned car discovered in Paranaque City.
According to SPD director Brig. Gen. Kirby John Kraft, a barangay tanod of Barangay Tambo named Mark Joseph Espinosa noticed an abandoned motor vehicle along Quirino Avenue at the corner of M. Delos Santos Street at around 5:30 p.m.
Kraft added that Espinosa asked for police assistance from the Paranaque City Police Tambo Substation to check on the abandoned vehicle, which is recognized as a red Toyota Innova with plate number CDI 9724.
During the initial inspection, the cops emphasized that all doors were closed but unlocked, all outside features of the vehicle were intact, all windows and windshield were medium-tinted but still visible inside, and no sign of contraband was seen inside the vehicle.
Moreover, the police officers saw one brown backpack located in the passenger seat, one box, and one sack with unknown contents.
After processing the scene, police discovered 27 vacuum-sealed tea bags containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, a white sack, a white plastic bag, one Lazada box, and some car registration documents.
A photocopy of a birth certificate and two photocopies of a driver's license belonging to a certain Ma. Teresa Fernandez was also discovered in the car, with a vaccination card belonging to a Patani Barauntong, and 37 P50 bills.
The contraband, according to Kraft, was turned over to the SPD Forensic Unit.
Police are now looking for the whereabouts of the unidentified male who was seen exiting the vehicle.
