SEVENTEEN wins Album of the Year at 2023 MAMA Awards

South Korean boy group SEVENTEEN bagged the grand prize Album of the Year at the second night of 2023 MAMA Awards, considered as the largest annual year-end K-pop awards ceremony.

SEVENTEEN won the Samsung Galaxy Album of the Year on Wednesday, Nov. 29 for their album “FML,” which sold over 4.5 million copies worldwide.

“As we live [the] idol life with the name SEVENTEEN, we wondered if we could ever receive an award like this. Thanks to carats, after renewing our contract, we received the award we wondered if we’d ever receive. Thank you.,” the group’s leader S.Coups said upon receiving the award, according to a translation by an X (formerly Twitter) user.

“I hope all kpop fans around the world are happy. our CARATs, be happy too. We will meet you again with even more amazing music and albums,” he added.

SEVENTEEN was also honored in four other categories, namely the Best Male Group, Best Dance Performance Male Group, Worldwide Fans' Choice and Bibigo Culture & Style.

Meanwhile, girl group New Jeans won the Artist of the Year and Song of the Year awards for their song “Ditto.” The quinten also won the Best Female Group and Best Dance Performance Female Group.

  • Best Collaboration: BTS’s Jungkook (“Seven” featuring Latto)

  • Best OST: BTS (“THE PLANET”)

  • Best Vocal Performance (Group): AKMU

  • Best Vocal Performance (Solo): Parc Jae Jung

  • Best Rap & Hip Hop Performance: Agust D [BTS’ Suga] (“People Pt.2” featuring IU)
