PLEDIS Entertainment confirmed on Friday, March 1, that SEVENTEEN’s S.Coups has been exempted from military service following his knee injury.
“Due to a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee joint, S.Coups underwent anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery and anterolateral ligament reconstruction surgery,” PLEDIS Entertainment said in a statement via Soompi.
“Because it was a major surgery, he has been undergoing physical rehabilitation therapy for a long time, starting from last year up until now. As a result, he was classified as Grade 5,” its statement read.
Based on South Korea’s conscription system, men who belong to Grade 5 are exempted from the mandatory military service peacetime. However, in case of a way, they have to work in support of the military.
Meanwhile, the record label noted that SEVENTEEN is preparing for a possible comeback.
“We will make an official announcement regarding [SEVENTEEN’s] precise comeback schedule at a later date,” PLEDIS Entertainment said.
S.Coups earlier suffered from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and underwent reconstruction surgery.
