Senators expressed their intention to question Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), particularly regarding the reason for needing additional funding in their 2025 budget.

According to Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, he will specifically question the surplus funds, including the ₱89.9 billion in savings that were transferred to the National Treasury.

Gatchalian argued that the need for a large budget and an additional increase for the following year is unclear, given that PhilHealth's funds were not utilized in 2024.

This was echoed by Senator Grace Poe, Chairman of the Committee on Finance, who expressed concern about why the previous administration of PhilHealth needed to incur debt despite having unused funds that were subsequently transferred to the National Treasury.
